Performance Cardiology was established by Dr Neil Davidson in conjunction with Dr Gwilym Morris to provide a specialist service for athletes with heart rhythm abnormalities and to screen for heart abnormalities in athletes. Many people have been advised not to exercise due to a heart problem and often this has reflected a lack of specialist knowledge from medical staff. In most cases it is possible to overcome heart conditions and to achieve new personal goals with the correct advice and guidance.
The staff at Performance Cardiology now include specialist cardiologists, nurses, cardiac physiologist and sports scientists. The common goal of these staff is to ensure that wherever possible people with a heart condition are given the opportunity to maximise their potential without compromising their safety. This applies to elite athletes, weekend warriors and fitness enthusiasts of all ages.
The Performance Cardiology service has been developed in conjunction with the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance (MIHP) at the Etihad Campus. Bookings for consultations at MIHP or at other locations can be arranged via the contact page (LINK).
